Tanks Suitable for Storing Deicing Solutions

Deicing Solution Storage - GoToTanks

Winter is coming. Or rather, winter is here. With the cold weather comes legitimate concerns for icy roads and dangerous driving conditions. When temperatures drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s time to start taking safety measures. Traditionally, this has been solved with salt trucks. But even more lately, ethylene glycol and magnesium chloride used by local Departments of Transportation (DOT) and even airports as a deicing solution. But in order to take care of such massive amounts of ice, you need the ability to transport large amounts of deicer. That’s where tanks come in.

Utilizing elliptical leg tanks, elliptical cradle tanks, and horizontal leg tanks are popular models for storing these substances. There are transportational but non-DOT approved, meaning they’re ideal for personal and home use. Being transparent, you’re able to clearly see how much liquid is contained in the tank. They come in a variety of sizes from 15 gallons to over 5,000.

For industrial markets, vertical tanks are much more practical solutions. These types of tanks are designed for stationary applications like storing liquid and are used by the DOT and municipalities like the Department of Public Works and other city departments. They come in all sizes and capacities, going all the way up to 20,000 gallons. Typically the DOT will buy sizes ranging from 5,000-20,000 gallons, while water treatment plants are more likely to use something in the 10,000-20,000 range. Their large storage capabilities are ideal for tackling the large amounts of ice a city or large scale area, like an airport, may require.

We still have a stretch of harsh winter left to go. Are you prepared to handle the icy cement and asphalt that comes with the season?
